my xin nian

i loveeeeeee chinese new years! :D

although i am shameful to admit that the older i grow, the less the spirit of celebrating. when i was young cny is like one of the biggest holidays i look forward to. i seriously enjoy the food, the people, the decorations, the tongtong chiang music that everyone despises,(say all you want people, but i grew up listening and even watching cny videos haha so even though i don't have much favour to it. it brings back memories. it's like something that must be done/seen every year. it has become a tradition our own) obviously the angpaos and every.single.thing. that makes up cny.

all those hype. i loved it to bits and pieces.

unfortunately although the cny spirit stays on, i did not keep up with it. it's never bout the age. age is only an excuse one gives to oneself to comfort and make up for the lack of cny spiritness. it's really my bad. hahah as i grow older, from endless days of laughter, playing water fights in the bathroom, pretending to have our own lion dance, running away after lighting small fire crackers, stealing home made ice cream(those potong done in plastic bag) from my grand dad's carried down sundry shop, going on rides at the nearby small theme park (those...haha you knowlarh. run down, full of lights and games that gives you packet drinks as consolation prizes) became days of just sitting around playing poker, sleeping, catching up craps with relatives and munching on tid bits while watching t.v.

feels like any other normal day just that it's with family back home....sweats-_-'' well...i guess the main point of cny is to spend time with your family despite whatever you're doing... (see i'm coming out with excuses hahah next year i go chase chickens with my ah kunglar)

anyway :D

always. every cny i will go back to penang, my dad's (kg.pisang - i live up to it man) and malacca, my mom's.

both the land of food glorious food and that i have my tummy to show the proof.

this year at penang i actually did something new. wahahaha :D

i sat on a motorbike! (okay, somebody please let me sit on your motorbike as a pembonceng [passenger], i can't believe at mid-twenties i have never sat a motorbike. how can)

i went to celebrate cny eve with a bird :D

this is bird. say hello. hahahah
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
yes i am freaking aware that my nickname is sugarplum-_- too lazy to explain the origins of it and yes we were talking bout how big his butt looked in the game. omg. eat edy don't need to study is it-_-!

i knew bird since...according to him around mid-2003. when ragnarok online(RO) was a hugeeeee thing and practically everyone was playing it back then. how i knew him in the game will forever remain a secret (cause we both can't remember how) and how our friendship stayed on for so many freaking years is a mystery hahahahahaahah

yes. bird was his RO nickname-_- and yes, i called him that the entire night we were out.

it was funny meeting someone you just talk to online a lot and esp. when the friendship is a bit 'off-ed' ever since both of us graduated from college aka stop playing RO as well. i don't remember whether i shared any secrets with him but he did share his with me hahaha so i guess the awkwardness must have been on his side more then mine.

i almost chickened out to meet him but thnkfully i din't. haha :D

i wished i asked him his secret on the spot *laughs* but it would be a lil bad...and awkward..ner

though when he came to pick me up my uncle who stays in penang gave me a fright by acting like my 2nd dad since my dad was already out for a drinking session with his buddies.

"what time come back!? where you going? what's his name? what's his contact number?"

...mieeeeeeehhhh.......his 17 year old daugther had a guy picking her up on a motorbike also. how come i have more qns then her-_-!!! bias!

anyway, i bullied bird into bringing me to Gurney drive cause my aunt said there would be fireworks...so walk along Gurney drive we did (freaking long walk) and talk we did (damn chi cha haha sweats*)

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
we saw fireworks that night....one on the right side. one on the left side *laughs* we even saw people selling fireworks and passerbys buying them and playing on the spot....instant fireworks-_-'' we saw people playing lil kites and walked under their strings. we sat down in front of roadside restaurants where they had performance/ on stage karaokes.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
we even went to the beach after that to continue walking, talking AND looking at people play fireworks. oh! and saw stars. gila a lot of stars! it was crazy!! a sky filled with stars....warao. of course, all i managed to take with my camera was this photo-_- and ..i don't think bird had any nice photos also cause he has no tripod. le'sigh.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
a mamak at the beach *laughs* damn cute okay. tempted but didn't wanna pile on anymore weight. bleah

hahahahhahahah i know it all sounds so "bodo-ly watheangkookueh" but actually just spending time like this was quite relaxing. i just don't know how we can talk so much-_-'''

ridiculouslarh bird. you must have been a girl in your past life.

and the highlight of the whole meetup...is actually this (or the whole point of the meetup was for this *laughs)

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
CINAMOROLL WEI hahahhahaah :D
i asked bird to buy it back then in 2005 cause it was sold out in PJ area. yes, it's from the McD craze. it's 2009 now and i just got it.

how's that for maximum expiredness!?

nvm bird. i forgive you :D
xiexie ni! don't always play emo songs already okay-_- and whatheheck is you like emo songs cause you are emo. bleah. kns reason *i object*

moving on to malacca

i this year went to...jengjeng.
meet my lai ma/nai ma (nanny) after God knows how many years she did not see me.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
hahahahah cute bo!? damn cute wei.
she's 78 years old for chupa chup's sake and she walks like she's 50....damn fake-_-!! i mean she was saying how her legs are giving away and all...but obviously, seeing her walk felt otherwise.

everyone calls her "ai xin niang". with my banana-ness i was thinking between the meanings of "love" and "new" and don't know what's with the 'niang' but actually....ai xin niang means...short bride.

ai - short
xin niang - bride

"but then again she IS short!", my dad reinforced it in.

seriously having such nickname to stick on you for so many years...hahah really miiieeehh. well at least it has a nice sound to it-_- but seriously, short bride is the last thing i wanna hear on my wedding day if i do get married.
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
nothing much. other then the fact she has been keeping my baby pics all these while haha
"sometimes when i have nothing to do, i will take out these photos and remember what a good baby she was"

pengsan.

i'm no longer a good baby girl. i'm sorry T_T

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
see this tricycle?! my mom wouldn't buy for me despite how i lao gai-ed for it. it was ai xin niang who bought it for me. i fount out this cny that she won an illegal 4D, that's why she could afford. *laughs* i guess that's how much she loved me.

i think i am one of the few for my age that doesn't get hit by the "so when are you getting married?" or "do you have a boyfriend yet?" question. hahah i guess it's written all over my face that i either don't have or i'm lesbian something.

i guess the record just broke itself.
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
"so when are you getting married?"
i gave a baffled look. before i could even register my brain to joke that i'm actually 3 months pregnant already or something lamer.
she said, " remember to invite me okay, if i'm not dead yet or even if i'm dead, you lemme know okay?"

CHOI.

aper ni.

laughs*

if i ever do get married, i will call you de, lai ma. don't worry :)
i will make sure your table got suckling pig and i will come eat with you in my gown even if grease is gonna dirty it hahahah this i can ensure you.

...
oh crap. it IS okay to eat suckling pig when you're that old kan? -_-??

Happy CNY~!!

Gong xi gong xi fatt choi to my Bodo family...Thanks for the CNY greetings through SMS. :P

It's an exciting new year for me as i can get to meet most of my friends during this occasion and visit relatives again. I have friends coming back from overseas and we all hang out together as much as we can for karaoke, gamble, drinking..bla bla bla. That's the CNY spirit. :P

I went karaoke with my 'old' friends on Saturday, the 24th January...from 11 something at night until 4am. I actually just got back home from dinner with my dance teacher before she goes back to Sibu with her brother and their family that night for CNY. I reached home and showered...then i got a call from my friend to go karaoke. It's been a really really long time since we've met, so that's why i kinda forced myself to go even though it's already late.

On that very same night, my dance teacher treated me Japanese Buffet at Crown Plaza Riverside, Kuching.

She loooovesssss cakes...especially cheese cakes.

My new year's eve was a quiet and simple one.

During the day, I drove and accompanied Koh Ping to do her last minute new year shopping. Because of karaoke-ing til 4am, i was kinda stoned the next day. Koh Ping talks and talks...got lots of things to say...and i was so quiet :P She bought a hush puppies shoe (which i chose for her)...and got her hair done while i went to check out about Brazilian waxing. :P

Photobucket

Had dinner at my cousin's place...whoa there's TOO much food...sorry there's no photo of all the food. It didn't cross my mind to take them that time. :P Too hungwee~ Then after dinner.... Clement fetched me to his house at Tabuan Laru to play fire crackers with his family and drink wine. He just got back from Perth for CNY. He used to be very close with me during secondary school (though he's a year younger than me). Whenever he knows I stay back school to study in the afternoon, he will try his best to keep me company. He's a very nice guy. :) It makes me feel like i am very special as i was the only friend that he invited to his house to play firecrackers with his family..haha. But anyway...we had fun playing. I felt like a kid again.

You can see how happy i am playing firecracker. I talk Hokkien with my friend, just in case someone don't know wth i'm talking about. :P Kuching's CNY celebration with fireworks and crackers is really happening. I love the mood here...it's noisy everywhere with the fireworks and crackers..and then after everything's done, the whole city and residential area is covered with smoke. It's not easy to get kind of mood else where especially in West M'sia.

Ok..i need to oink oink now. Visited 6 houses today since morning and later going over to aunt's house to have dinner. Feeling very sleepy and tired until i slept in my dad's car in the course of doing visiting. xD

Anyway....HAPPY COW(NIU) YEAR TO YOU ALL~~~~!!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
bodoky's duck is looking good. looking cool. yes he's adopted from the bazaar at menara hup seng for rm1 :D

bodoky just initiated a kaikai-ism like any other day cause he had a freakin' rm110 Jusco voucher that he won from his company lucky draw the other day. obviously with CNY like 2 days away, D'OH Shopppinnnngggggg!!! :D

but i got a shock when he said "buy shoes"
"why shoes?! the last time also you said buy shoes!"
"oh! i did not buy in the end..and that time was wedding shoes...now i need walking shoes"
".....what's the freaking diff?!"
"the diff is that...one's nicer than the other...."
"nooo..one is shoes that are married and one is shoes that can walk by themselves"

:D

i din't say thatlarh actually but it makes sense kan?! kan bodoky? hahahah why are we so lame like that. this answer is lamer then whatever i said just now-_- wthe

bodoky's looking shy in front of the cam but actually he's checking out some chicklarh. everytime you see his big eyeballs divert somewhere, it's the cue that you should too cause confirm got chick to look at hahahahhahaha :D

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
and this is what i get when i leave the cam with him....take my pic, the pic sucks...but when camwhore ....VERY NAISH...-_-!!! mieh. see his satisfied look? Laughs* but seriously a breath of fresh air for me cause i always see him in his work clothes which does no justice-_- and once in his Man.Utd. shirt which i laughed cause he looked like a small kid...haha *oops*

but then again as i quote from bodoky, "lengjais look nice despite what/how they wear"

sigh.thick skin lvl 5.

and i just realized guys clothes..or maybe so ngam all we saw are under office button-up long sleeve shirts, so all look freaking the same-_- stripes and more stripes..in all kinds of colours. wthe. see already also pening...miiieh. all reminds me of what girls wear as pajamas when overnight at their boyfriend's house-_-''

Year 2009 - Penang Trip :D

I would like to announce that ....Mr. NiSenKyu ( aka 2009 )  love me ..( sofar )
Decent start with a little bit of spice here and there...
It had nothing to do with my new year resolutions, incase you need to know :P

Family trip..Penang..1st  till 4th ..

It was a quite relaxing trip overall, filled with food, sleep and shopping.

On the way there, we drop by at Taiping for our lunch. The home of THE perfect OH CIEN !! .

Taiping Oh Cien ...

Oh Cien is made from Fried Oyster and Eggs. You can never find the same kind of Oh Cien in KL. We ordered like 12 plates for about 16-17 of us.

I also found this across the street.

There should be 11 B .. "berak "

Reached Hotel Vistana at around 3pm. Unpacked and hang around the hotel...

..and camwhore :P

and then THE cousins decided that the best way to complete a happy day.. is to have a HAPPY MEAL!!!

We woke up very early in the morning the next day to try the famous Roti Bakar and Telur at this place about 15 minutes drive away from the hotel ( forgot the street name ).

The bread was really nice but the eggs tasted the same. This is when i asked my cousin what so different about the eggs. He answered " Those are duck's eggs. Taste like chicken's eggs right ? ". -.- YOU THINK I STUPID AH!!! Ducks don't lay eggs wan laaa!!!! xD

Later in that afternoon, we headed to the famous Kek Lok Si temple. One of the must go place if you ever set your foot in Penang Island.

We did not go further up to the Kun Yum Temple due to time constrain. It was a decent family outing. We get to jokes around, making each other laugh. Errmm.. Ok ok. I get to jokes around making them laugh xD ...

There is a flee market between the temple and the bottom of the hill. Me and two of my cousin ( includes that sor lou wearing that grey shirt in the above photo. ) was lazy to walk the flee market and walk back up to the temple, where we park our car. We offered to drive the car down and wait for them there. We couldn't decide if we should just wait for them to come down for lunch or should we eat without them. This is where my Yee Cheong ( Uncle ) broke the discussion with a answer of his own.

Me : Eh, should we just drink and wait.
Cousin 1 : I think wait for them better la. Cause dunno if they wanna eat here.
Cousin 2 : But here got Asam Laksa. Looks nice.
Me : How la ?
Cousin 2 : I feel like eating la.
Cousin 1 : I think wait la. Later they all complain we eat without them .
Cousin 2 : KuCheong ( Uncle ) , how ah ?
KuCheong : Oh... Asam Laksa big one, 1 please. ( Continue looking around )
Me, Cousins : =.=

Next, we drove about 20 minutes to this monkey park where the bees are bigger than the monkey. LOOK !!!

It was around 4pm when we decided to go for a walk in Queens Bay Mall. I don't really fancy shopping in penang , for to me, when it comes to shopping in Malaysia, Kl is the place. However, me and my cousins were complaining that Ginny shouldn't squat down while eating. She just smile and continue. What i did was, i took 2 pieces of 20 cent coins and threw it in front of her and in milli seconds, she jump up and look at look at me one kind. All of us laughed xD.

One of the main reason of the penang trip is because one of our penang branch supervisor is getting married. The wedding dinner was quite nice with a lot of suckling pigs. A LOT!!! xD
I didn't drink at all in the wedding dinner. That's because, in penang, people don't drink alcohol. They drink....

joking... lolz...

Signing off !!! Need to continue my studies. :P
